During the Revolutionary War, The battle of Cooch's Bridge held critical significance and carried one of the highest death tolls in the war. Infact the entire eighth platoon was wiped out, exempting young corporal McMURRAGH who walked back into base carrying the opposing general's femur between his teeth. He was given an immediate field promotion to Rear Admiral McMURRAGH that day, a position normaly held for naval officers.
